GEORGE TOWN: Police detained two suspects in connection with several robbery and snatch theft cases reported in the Timur Laut and Barat Daya districts in Penang.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said one of the suspects, aged 21 and unemployed, was arrested in Sungai Nibong here last Wednesday, and his arrest led to the arrest of the second suspect, aged 37, in Paya Terubong last night.
They both tested positive drug and are believed responsible for at least 10 robbery and snatch theft cases reported in the two districts since four months ago, he said.
He said the 21-year-old suspect, with previous record for theft and drug offences, would be in remand until July 12, while the second suspect, with previous record for robbery and drug, until July 13.
In another case, a decomposed body of a teacher was found in a house in Taman Serdang last night.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief ACP Azmi Adam identified the victim as Tawfet Rosidi Ahmad, 52, who was believed to have been dead a week ago before the body was found about 7.15 pm yesterday by a neighbour who went to check on a stench smell from the house.
The body was then sent to Kepala Batas Hospital for post mortem, Azmi said the teacher was believed to be staying alone in the house.
Police ruled out foul play and classified the case as sudden death. — Bernama
