Beyond the language rhetoric

THE single stream system argued in "Let civil servants take the lead" (My View, July 5) is just that. There is no assumption on what medium of instruction it should be based on if the "outcome" is unity. The use of "once again" as noted implies that it may be English (or with BM) as pointed out.
The writer of the letter, "Parents look for academic standards", has jumped the gun by assuming that it is BM-based and hence has not moved the discussion of single stream system beyond the language rhetoric; and by extension racial and religious issues, which is precisely what we need to overcome. Otherwise, the social time bomb continues to tick even faster.
