Two students detained after rape photo goes viral

    PETALING JAYA: Two students aged 16 and 17 were arrested by police over the gang rape of their 17-year-old classmate after an explicit photo of the incident went viral.
    Kinabatangan district chief police, Superintendent A. Sahak Rahmat, said a teacher lodged a police report on July 6 .
    The photo was believed to have been taken by one of the suspects during the incident around 9am on April 1 at an abandoned wooden hut behind their school, The Borneo Post reported today.
    According to the victim, she and her friends were decorating their classroom when she was called by the suspects. They took her to a place behind the school on the pretext of having a discussion.
    The suspects forced themselves on the victim in the hut.
    The victim did not dare tell her family and teacher for fear of being harmed by the suspects, the report said.
    On July 5, the viral photo got the attention of the school authorities. Both the suspects and the victim were called up by their disciplinary teacher for questioning. The teacher then lodged a police report.
    The victim was brought to the Kinabatangan Hospital for a check-up and referred to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for further screening.
    The case is being investigated under Section 375B/574 Act of Penal Code which carries a jail term of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years.
