Tahfiz body wants perception over student's death corrected

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of National Associations of Al-Quran Tahfiz Institutions (PINTA) has asked the police and public prosecutor to correct the negative perception and allegations suffered by a madrasah and its assistant warden over the death of a tahfiz religious school student.
PINTA president Mohd Zahid Mahmood said today it had been established that the student, Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi, 11, of a religious school in Kota Tinggi, Johor, had died of leptospirosis and not from injuries allegedly caused by abuse by the school assistant warden as reported in the social media.
He was commenting on the statement by Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah yesterday that Mohamad Thaqif Amin died from leptospirosis and not from trauma or injury.
The boy died at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Bahru on April 26.
Mohd Zahid also said that PINTA urged the tahfiz madrasah community to continue to strive to make tahfiz religious schools the best platform to generate religious scholars. — Bernama
