PETALING JAYA: A fireman risked his life to save a cat perched on the 12th-floor ledge at a Seri Hartamas condominium yesterday.
In a 47-sec footage, Ahmad Sahsezal Ismail was seen attempting to rescue the feline after receiving a report.
After assessing the situation, Ahmad decided to anchor himself safely on the ledge with a safety harness with the help of a five-member team from the Seri Hartamas Fire Station.
Another officer held out a pipe through another window to assist the rescue.
“We also had our officers standby with a canopy below in case it fell. It took us almost two hours to set up the safety equipment. It was steep with very little movement. I’m just glad that everything went smoothly as it jumped to safety,” the 25-year-old Storm (Special Tactical Operation Rescue) personnel said.
Storm is a specialised unit that only has 300 personnel who deal with natural disasters such as landslides, collapsed structures and major accidents.
War veteran journalist Halim Berbar captured the moment, hailing the team’s effort as commendable.
