DAP yet to receive letter from RoS to hold fresh election for CEC: Loke

PETALING JAYA: DAP has yet to receive any formal letter from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) ordering the party to hold fresh elections for its central executive committee (CEC) said Anthony Loke Siew Fook (pix) today.
The national organising secretary told theSun that the party has not heard from RoS up to yesterday evening, despite the latter already making a media statement on the issue on July 7.
RoS had, on Friday, ruled that DAP's CEC re-election in 2013 was not held in accordance with its requirements and found the appointment of the CEC and the main office-bearers to be invalid.
In a statement earlier, Loke also condemned "Barisan Nasional propagandists" for claiming that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng would benefit the most from the CEC re-election as it would allow him to extend his position for another term.
"If Lim wanted to take advantage of RoS' order, he would have already ordered for the election to take place immediately," Loke said.
Lim was elected as secretary-general in the party elections in 2004 and 2008, and if the 2013 election were to be recognised, Lim would have now completed his third and final term by the end of last year, BN had claimed.
Loke added that since the 2013 CEC re-election, RoS had never served them any notice on what rules it had breached that required them to conduct another election.
"It must be stressed that the CEC elections on Sept 29, 2013 was done in accordance to DAP's constitution, and can never be questioned by anyone, including RoS," he said.
