Police probe assault of woman who just gave birth (Video)

MALACCA: Police have initiated an investigation into an incident where a woman who had just given birth was hit by a man in Taman Cenderawasih here on Tuesday.
In the 1.05am incident, the victim, identified as Nur Dhila said a man was revving his car engine outside her house, which caused her baby to wake up and cry relentlessly.
As she was unable to stop her baby from crying, she went out and told the man to stop the noise as it was late at night and everyone was sleeping.
However, she said the man was not happy with her and instead began revving his car even louder.
She began recording the incident and the man then made an obscene gesture.
The man then allegedly got out and tried to grab her handphone, failing which he hit her stomach.
He also threatened that he would knock her down and even hurt her in the future.
She said she quickly went back into her house and later lodged a report on the matter.
Following the incident, she said she went for a medical check-up and still finds it difficult to walk properly due to the pain in her stomach.
At press time, her Facebook posting about the incident had gone viral and was shared by 19,500 over Facebook users.
When contacted, Central Malacca police chief ACP Afzanizar Ahmad said police are in the midst of tracing the man.
"I can confirm the case and we have also identified the suspect, the manhunt is on," he told theSun when contacted.
The case is being investigated under Section 337 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by endangering the life or personal safety.
