Woman pretends to be dead to avoid being killed

KRABI: One of the victims in a massacre of eight family members at their house in Kampung Ban Klang, Aolud here early yesterday, pretended to be dead to avoid from being killed by a group of armed men.
Thai police deputy chief, Gen Chalermkiat Sriworakhan said the woman, in her 20's, survived the attack after a gunshot grazed her ear.
"After being shot at, she pretended to be dead and saw the faces of all the attackers," he told reporters after visiting the scene of the incident, today.
Chalermkiat said the woman, who was being treated at a nearby hospital, was now the sole key eye-witness in the brutal murder case.
The killing was planned and executed by professionals involving six or seven attackers who were clad in military fatigues, he said.
It was reported that three children were among those slain, execution-style, by the attackers.
One of the victims, Worayuth Sanlang, who was the village head, was believed to be the main target in the killing. Also killed in the attack was his wife.
It was reported that police were alerted about the incident at 1.30am, Tuesday.
According to Chalermkiat, one the attackers had allegedly shot at Worayuth's neck using a .38 pistol owned by one of the victims.
"The attackers also took away a hard disk containing footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at the house, to make it difficult for the authorities to detect them," he said, adding that the attackers had come to the house about 4pm on Monday and held the family at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, a police source said the authorities were investigating the case based on several motives including dispute with a local politician, issues pertaining to the construction of a quarry, Worayuth's past actions against villagers, and drugs. — Bernama
