PETALING JAYA: MCA has hit out at the Kelantan state government over the amendment to the Syariah Criminal Procedure Enactment 2002 to allow public caning.
MCA religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Ti Lian Ker said the amendment bill was unconstitutional and detrimental to the country's legal system.
In a statement yesterday, Ti hit out at the Kelantan state government for destroying the country's legal system. He also asked the state government which part of the Federal law allowed it to carry out public caning.
