KUALA LUMPUR: Unfazed by criticism over his effort to fight graft, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said he will continue with his crusade.
The Federal Territories Minister said that from the time he was appointed to his position, weeding out corruption has been his priority.
"I was known as a very rough minister, because I wanted to change the public's perception of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the ministry. There were all types of 'perceptions' and I wanted to clear them. I would be ashamed to be known as corrupt since I am now heading the ministry," he said at the Corruption-Free Oath Ceremony with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Tengku Adnan said if efforts were not made to fight corruption, Malaysia will not be a successful country.
While there was still some negative perception, he said, it was normal when a city is being developed.
"Let it be. As long as we avoid wrongdoing and be responsible. We should know which of our action is wrong and avoid it entirely."
Tengku Adnan added that a similar oath ceremony will be held in Putrajaya and Labuan soon.
