Part-time computer programmer claims trial to injuring wife

KUALA LUMPUR: A part-time computer software programmer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to injuring his wife.
Ng Min Fei, 29, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt on Tong Hui Ting, 21, at the Pediatric Ward, University of Malaya Medical Center (PPUM), here at about 4.30pm on last Monday (July 10).
He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 326A of the Penal Code and carries a jail term of up to two years, or a maximum fine of RM4,000, or both, if convicted.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Farith Muhd Faizal, who prosecuted, offered bail of RM6,000 with one surety.
The accused's counsel, A.Krishnaveni however, appealed for a lower bail on the grounds that his client is the sole breadwinner and has to pay for his child's medical expenses.
Judge Noradura Hamzah set bail at RM4,500 with one surety and ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station every two weeks.
The court fixed July 28 for mention. — Bernama
