PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened investigations on Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) over the purported purchase of a four star hotel in Kensington, London between 2013 and 2015.
Its chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad confirmed that an investigation paper into the purchase has already been opened.
He said the investigation team has already gathered the documents from Felda with regards to the hotel purchase and are currently in the process of assessing those documents.
Dzulkifli added that based on early information, FIC is believed to have purchased the hotel at a price that is far higher than its original value which caused FIC to lose millions of ringgit.
He said that the investigations are being carried out to confirm whether there was any bribery or abuse of power in purchasing the hotel way above market value.
In a statement, Dzulkifli said the MACC will call witnesses in the near future to record statements and evidence before stern action is taken.
