GEORGE TOWN: The police is expected to submit the investigation paper (IP) in the case where a lock-up detainee escaped from police custody last week to Bukit Aman by tomorrow.
Northeast district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said the IP will be handed to the Bukit Aman legal unit for further action.
"The case will be referred to them by this Monday," he briefly told theSun when contacted.
The escapee, identified as Anuar Ayat, 43, escaped at Sungai Nibong Besar after he and two others were supposed to be taken to the Balik Pulau Hospital on July 9.
They had feigned illness to be allowed out to visit their families and the act was allegedly facilitated by policemen in cahoots with them.
Police subsequently detained eight policemen, comprising four Lance Corporals, three Corporals and a Sergeant, as well as a fishermen to assist investigators.
All the policemen have been released after their remand order expired and have been suspended from duties pending investigations.
Anuar said the 56-year-old fisherman has also been released on police bail after his remand order expired tomorrow.
Police are still hunting for the suspect who was charged with drug trafficking a few years ago.
