Johor Sultan's daughter to marry a commoner on Aug 14

JOHOR BARU: The only daughter of Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah, Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will be tying the knot with commoner Dennis Muhammad Abdullah on Aug 14.
The Johor Royal Court Council Datuk Rahim Ramli said Tunku Tun Aminah, 31, and Dennis, 28, will be married in accordance with traditional Malay, Islam and Johor Palace culture.
"To mark the start of the royal wedding ceremony, the state ceremonial flag will be raised on Aug 8," he said.
Rahim also said that a tahlil and thanksgiving prayer for divine blessings will be held at the Pasir Pelangi Mosque on Aug 10 before the betrothal ceremony on Aug 14 at 10am.
It will be followed by the solemnisation ceremony, to be conducted by Johor Mufti Datuk Muhammad Tahril Shamsudin.
"The bersanding ceremony will be held at the Throne Room of the Istana Besar on Aug 14, while the royal bathing ceremony will be held at the Bukit Bintang Pavilion Royal Botanical Gardens of the Istana Besar on Aug 15," he added.
The royal couple will then pay their respects to Johor's late rulers at the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum on Aug 16.
Tunku Aminah, who was born on April 8, 1986, at Hospital Sultanah Aminah here is second of six siblings and the only daughter to Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith.
Dennis, born Dennis Verbaas in Lisse, the Netherlands, converted to Islam on May 31, 2015.
He was a semi-professional footballer and served as the JDT Concept Store and Cafe manager before becoming the marketing manager of Tampines Rovers Football Club in Singapore.
