Haemorrhagic septicaemia situation improving in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: Haemorrhagic Septicaemia which infected cows and buffaloes in Terengganu is increasingly under control as no new death has been recorded since July 9, says Terengganu Veterinary Services Department (JPV) director Dr Mohd Termizi Ghazali.
He said the disease, which was detected in May-end, had killed 339 cows and 61 buffaloes at four districts in the state.
"Marang recorded the highest deaths at 279 cows and 44 buffaloes, followed by Dungun (39 cows, five buffaloes), Kuala Terengganu (19 cows, 12 buffaloes) and two cases of deaths involving cows in Kuala Nerus.
"Nevertheless, the current situation is not too worrying and the last death was recorded in Dungun on July 9. JPV hopes there will be no more deaths after this," he told Bernama today.
During the period, JPV had vaccinated 6,501 cows and 195 buffaloes at 794 livestock farms in the four districts, added Mohd Termizi. — Bernama
