BATU PAHAT: Police are waiting for the post-mortem report on a 21-month-old boy who was allegedly abused by his adoptive parents in Batu Pahat and subsequently died.
"Police will decide on the next step after studying the post-mortem report, so far we have not received it yet," Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Abdul Wahid Musa told theSun today.
The boy, known as Muhammad Al Fateh Abdullah, whose forehead had injury marks aroused the suspicions of staff at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital here when he was admitted.
The hospital then lodged a police report upon his death at the intensive care unit at 12.45pm on July 11.
His adoptive parents were released after being questioned by the police.
The case will be investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Earlier, the state Welfare Department had made known that they found no element of negligence in this case.
The toddler was born on Sept 29, 2015, and was subsequently handed over to the adoptive parents by his biological mother who is a distant relative of the couple.
The couple are aged 30 and 34 years old.
