Robbers escape with RM60,000 in jewellery at hypermarket

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two men, one armed with a gun, struck at a jewellery kiosk in a hypermarket here before escaping with an assortment of jewellery worth about RM60,000.
The 2.45pm hold-up at the kiosk located on the ground floor of the Mydin Hypermarket in Jalan Baru was over in less than two minutes.
Seberang Prai Centre police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said during the incident, the gunman held up the sole female employee at the kiosk while his accomplice scooped up the jewellery pieces and put them in a bag.
He said the robbers who wore full-faced helmets, ski masks, gloves as well as blue and black sweaters escaped in a blue Suzuki RGV motorcycle bearing no registration number. — Bernama
