Robbers used a hammer to assault teenage student

KAJANG: A hammer believed to be the assault weapon used to seriously injure a 14-year-old girl during a robbery at her house in Kampung Masjid, Bangi on July 7 was recovered from two suspects detained over the case last week.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nanyan (pix) said investigators also recovered the stolen loot comprising of mobile phones that was taken from the victim.
He said two more individuals were held since Thursday bringing the total number of those detained to six.
Othman said a woman is among those who were arrested.
He said only two men aged 21 and 23 are the prime suspects who were involved in the robbery while the rest were buyers or were found to be in possession of the stolen loot.
Othman said the suspects who are aged between 21 and 43 are being held under remand for investigations.
Form Two student Syazana Amirah Asshaari suffered a fractured skull and other serious injuries when she was attacked by two men who broke into her house in Kampung Masjid in a robbery.
The SMK Bandar Seri Putra student who was alone at home was found unconscious and profusely bleeding in a room by her mother when she returned from work at 11.30am.
The 48-year-old woman later found her purse and two mobile phones missing from the house.
Syazana was rushed to the Kajang Hospital where she was treated before being transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for surgery.
Her condition is reported to have improved from critical to be stable.
