Parking touts fined RM800 each

KUALA LUMPUR: Two parking touts were fined RM800 each, in default eight days' jail, by the Traffic Court here today for forcing drivers to park their vehicles without lawful authority.
Magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abdul Rahman meted out the fine on Mohd Riduan Sarip, 31, who is a security guard, and an unemployed man, Shahron Azhar Mohamad, 28.
They paid the fine
Both of them pleaded guilty to forcing drivers to park their vehicles at Jalan Doraisamy here between 12.30 am and 12.45 am last July 15.
They were charged under Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and punishable under Section 119(2) of the same law which provided a fine of up to RM2,000, or imprisonment for up to six months, if found guilty.
The prosecution was conducted by traffic prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim. — Bernama
