PPIM incident: 'No stone will be left unturned' in investigations, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have given their assurance that they will investigate everyone including a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and the alleged car lease and rental company in Kajang over an incident where the NGO barged into the company's premises for "cheating" several individuals who had leased their cars to them.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police have to adhere to existing laws when it comes to investigating a case.
"There is no such thing as an individual lodges a report about a case and tomorrow you arrest and put the suspect in a lock-up. We have laws in our country and the law requires us to go through certain processes, like taking and collecting statements and concluding the investigation papers.
"So everyone who went against the law in this case will be investigated including the Islamic Consumer Association of Malaysia (PPIM). We have police reports on their alleged actions and we will investigate them," Khalid told reporters when met at the KL police contingent Hari Raya celebrations today.
He added police will also screen through all agreements the car owners had with the company.
On July 10, the purported fraud came to light when several PPIM activists and victims demanded the release of vehicles kept at the company's storehouse in Kajang.
The group allegedly barged into the premises and did not produce any court order to enter the storehouse.
