Sharing festive joy

DURING times of festivity, there are many kind and considerate folk who think about the less fortunate. While some are individuals who silently partake in good deeds behind closed doors, there are also those who work in human resource and CSR departments for big and moderate firms who initiate kindly acts and charitable giving.
FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Hari Raya, as in other festive celebrations, brings with it an opportunity for such good deeds and acts of kindness. It is in this spirit of caring for the community that AirAsia X Berhad rallied a team of over 20 management personnel and Allstars members for a benevolent undertaking.
Led by AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail, the troop for the airline treated 50 Rohingya refugee schoolchildren to a Hari Raya celebration.
The undertaking saw the entourage make their way to the Rohingya Community School, which is a three-storey shop lot run by humanitarian NGO Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA). Awarm welcome and a tour of the “school” ensued with a presentation of hampers, received on behalf of the school by MRA secretary-general Dr Shahrizal Azwan Samsudin.
Benyamin then distributed hampers and duit raya to the children aged between three and 14.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
To make the event memorable to the children, the team from AirAsia X put on their entertainment “hat” and engaged with the children in fun games, singing, followed by a hearty lunch comprising traditional Hari Raya delights.
“We also would like to take the opportunity to convey our Hari Raya Aidilfitri wishes to the Rohingya community in Malaysia and those living in other countries. We hope for the best for the children and pray for them that they will have better lives ahead,” Benyamin said.
