PETALING JAYA: DAP has three options to respond to the official notification it received from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) on Monday.
A party source said they will be holding a meeting at the party headquarters tonight (Wednesday) to discuss their options as it has 14 days to do so.
He said the party can choose to ignore the RoS notification and face the possibility that their candidates may be barred from participating in the next general elections.
"The other two options for the party is either to comply with the notification or challenge the RoS decision in court," he said.
He added that the party will announce its decision after the central executive committee (CEC) completes its meeting.
DAP legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo announced on his Facebook on Monday that the party had finally received the RoS notification
He said DAP received official notification of decision from RoS by way of letter on Monday morning morning
They opposition party received the letter 10 days after the RoS issued a press statement ordering the Opposition party to hold fresh polls for its central executive committee.
In a statement on July 7, the RoS said it had no intention of deregistering DAP but ordered the party to hold fresh elections for its CEC members.
Following complaints from DAP members, RoS had deemed that the re-election in 2013 was not carried out based on the list of delegates authorised to attend and vote in earlier polls held on Dec 15, 2012.
The polls in 2012 had involved 2,576 delegates from 865 branches.
