Cops on the hunt for snatch thief following attack on lawyer

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are on a hunt for two snatch thieves following an attack on a lawyer and her friend who sustained serious injuries after they were thrown of their motorcycle chasing the crooks on Jalan Genting Kelang here on Sunday.

The 33-year-old female lawyer who was riding pillion and her female friend, a 25-year-old law firm clerk, were on their way for lunch at about 12.30pm when they noticed the two snatch thieves who were on two motorcycles trailing them.

One of them managed to snatch a gold necklace the lawyer was wearing before speeding off.

On seeing this, the clerk who was riding the motorcycle gave chase.

The victims told police that during the pursuit, a snatch thief hurled an iron bar at them which missed.

Moments later, when she caught up with them one of the suspects kicked her motorcycle, causing the clerk to lose control of the machine and crashing it.

Both women who suffered serious head and other bodily injuries were later taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital in an ambulance and were warded for their injuries.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said investigations are ongoing and police are on the lookout for the suspects.
