Fire guts motorcycle shop, half a million ringgit in losses

BUTTERWORTH: The owner of a motorcycle shop in Sungai Dua here suffered about half a million ringgit worth of losses after fire gutted the premises early this morning.
William Khoo, 26, said he was alerted to the 4.30am blaze from an app he installed in his handphone to monitor the shop.
He said he rushed to the site and saw fire fighters already there trying to put out the blaze.
Some 30 motorcycles were destroyed, most of it were second-hand motorcycles kept in the shop.
He nonetheless said his business will resume on Friday as he has rented a premises nearby pending repairs to his shop.
"As far as I am concerned, we do not have any enemies, we are friends with everyone, and have good relationships with all our customers and the community," he told theSun when contacted.
Penang Fire and Rescue Services Department senior operations officer Azman Hussin said 12 firemen from the Prai and Bandar Perda fire stations managed to put out the fire about 5.40am.
He said no one was injured during the incident and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
