KPWKM will work with any agency to study divorce issues: Rohani

KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will cooperate with any agency to conduct a study on the issue of rising divorce cases in the country, said its minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.
She said it was unreasonable to blame any party on the causes of divorce without finding out the real reasons.
She was commenting on a statement by the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) recently which claimed that there was a high divorce rate among shift workers in the public health sector compared to others.
"I cannot agree or deny this because it is a general statement ... we have to study the claims first. If it really falls under the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), maybe we can work with CUEPACS on a study," she told a press conference after presenting awards to several organisations in conjunction with the CSR Malaysia Awards 2017 here today.
She added that LPPKN, which comes under her ministry, also organised various family programmes such as 2nd Honeymoon, Smart Start and Therapy, which could help save a family before divorce occurs.
Also present at the event were the chief executive officer of RHA Media Sdn Bhd Datuk R. Rajendran and managing editor of CSR Malaysia Lee Seng Chee.
Among the recipients this year are Exim Bank, Axiata, Bank Islam, 7-Eleven, Air Asia Berhad, Star Media and Ivory Properties Bhd.
