LANGKAWI: The Langkawi Tourism Association (LTA) in collaboration with Kota Mahsuri, has released the music album Khazanah Seni Di Sebalik Tembok as another initiative to enhance the tourism sector here.
LTA chief executive officer, Zainudin Kadir (pix) said the album which featured five traditional songs from Langkawi would be played on local radio stations as well as the internet.
"We embarked on an effort (to produce this album) three years ago, and from now, these songs will be listened by visitors to Langkawi," he told Bernama after the launch of the album, last night.
The launch was officiated by the Kedah Religious, Tourism and Heritage, and Public Works Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid during LTA's Aidilfitri dinner event.
Zainudin said well-known composer, Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Zain or Pak Ngah, who has composed several songs for singer Siti Nurhaliza, was also involved in the production of the album.
He said songs in this album include Citra Dayang, Langkawi Sebuah Taman, Mahsuri, Mengemping Padi, Salabit and Tanah Pertiwi.
Zainudin said LTA would also work with the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) and other relevant government agencies to enable the songs to be played at places of interest around the resort island.
"We will also collaborate with MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) to identify appropriate social media channels to air these songs," he said.
He said LTA also planned to come up with English versions of the songs to enable more tourists to understand  them.
"This will not only enhance Langkawi's artistic talent so as to bring about the progress of tourism here, but it is also to ensure that historical songs are not lost with time," he added. — Bernama
