Man in viral road bully video claims trial to mischief charge (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: A law student has been charged with committing mischief at the magistrate's court here today.
Simren Singh, 27, claimed trial to the charge. He was alleged to have reversed his car, which hit another car belonging to Mohd Kamil Mokhtar.
The offence was allegedly committed at the side of Jalan Pahang, heading towards Jalan Genting Klang about 12.45pm on July 13.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid granted RM2,000 bail and fixed Aug 9, 2017 for a mention.
The accused was allegedly involved in two road rage incidents in the Klang Valley recently, which went viral on social media.
The charge under section 427 of the Penal Code is punishable with a jail term not less than a one year jail sentence and not more than five years jail sentence with a fine or both.
Lawyer Datuk Jasbeer Singh Kaura asked for the accused to be given bail. He said the accused is first year law student and also studying a diploma in real estate.
He said an accident took place and the accused was reversing his car.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid granted RM2,000 bail with one surety and fixed Aug 9, 2017 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim appeared for the prosecution in the case.
Outside the court, Jasbeer said he would make a representation to the prosecution for the charge to be withdrawn.
"My client has been trialed by the media," he said of the videos which went viral on social media.
Simren had told theSun last Sunday that netizens rage against him was based on what they saw on social media which he said was unfair to him.
