Reply to RoS ready, only needs signature from Teresa Kok: Lim

GEORGE TOWN: The letter in reply to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) which directed the DAP to conduct party re-elections has been written and now only needs the signature of vice-chairman Teresa Kok.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) said the signature of the Seputeh MP was needed as the RoS letter ordering the re-election was addressed to Kok.
Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, said Kok was now trying to make an appointment with the RoS to submit the letter.
He said the RoS so far has not responded and expressed his shock the registrar had "refused to meet us so far".
"What are they so afraid of? It is only meeting the chief minister," he said in a press conference today when asked about the matter.
DAP on July 17 received an official letter from the RoS seeking the party to hold fresh elections for its central executive committee (CEC).
The RoS had on July 7 ruled that DAP's CEC re-election in 2013 was not held in accordance with its requirements and found the appointment of the CEC and the main office-bearers to be invalid.
Lim however was keeping his cards close to his chest on what was decided, stressing that the party was keeping its options open.
He said everything was contingent on the outcome of the meeting with the ROS, noting DAP had 14 days to respond.
"I did not say we would not have elections, we are keeping our options open. We have not decided which option to take, it is all contingent on the meeting with the RoS.
"I do not want to discuss possibilities until we meet the RoS," he said when asked about what options the party was considering including legal action.
On a political matter, Lim said he was happy with the line-up of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership.
He said the line-up was endorsed by the PH and was endorsed by his party too.
Noting the seven DAP representatives present at the PH meeting to iron out the issue were empowered to make decisions on behalf of the party.
"You should ask (Gelang Patah MP) Lim Kit Siang," he said when asked why the veteran DAP man was not part of the PH leadership line-up.
