DAP calls for meeting with RoS

PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies would have to meet DAP for the opposition party to proceed with elections for its 20 central executive committee (CEC) members, said its national organising secretary Anthony Loke.
The Seremban MP said this was because the RoS needs to verify the party's list of delegates who are eligible to vote and approve the party's nominated independent body to supervise the CEC polls.
"As such the list of names and the proposed independent monitoring body is subject to their approval.
"Without it, we cannot move forward.
"The meeting between us and the RoS director-general is very important.
"We are unable to comprehend why the RoS refuses to meet us," he told reporters after handing over a letter to the RoS at its headquarters here, today.
The letter was received by an RoS representative.
On July 7, the RoS in a statement ordered the party to hold fresh elections for the CEC.
Saying that it had no intention of de-registering DAP, RoS had deemed that the re-election in 2013 was not carried out based on the list of delegates authorised to attend and vote in earlier polls held on Dec 15, 2012.
Standing firm by its decision, RoS director-general Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah on Wednesday said DAP need only write to RoS if they require any clarification.
