KULAI: Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pix) has warned Umno members not to listen to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Some of his statements are illogical," he said after officiating the Kulai Umno division delegates meeting here on Saturday.
"For example, Tun M had labelled Anwar Ibrahim as a person without morals many years ago, but he has changed his perception now, this is unacceptable."
Mahathir is the newly appointed chairman of Pakatan Harapan and chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
Hishammuddin said since Mahathir had been in Umno for a long time, he knows the right time to bring up political issues.
"Tun Mahathir has blown up many political issues during the Umno divisional meeting season just to show that he knows it is the right time for politicking," Hisahmuddin said, adding that this may be part of Mahathir's strategy for the next general election.
On a separate issue, the Defence Minister said the ministry had sent 16 tonnes of food aid and necessities to Marawi, the Philippines by A400M air bus yesterday.
It is the first foreign mission for the armed forces' new air bus.
"We are planning to send a medical team and religious officers from ATM as well as necessities like water purifiers in the near future.
"We have no plans to send troops because I believe Philippline authorities have the ability to handle the situation."
He said Asean countries must stay united and take the IS and Daesh threats seriously since the terror groups aim to expand their influence to the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
