KUALA LUMPUR: The government is willing to correct whatever mistakes it has made in the past, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said.
Admitting that the government is not free of sin, Tengku Adnan, who is also the Barisan National secretary-general, pleaded to the rakyat to give their help and support to the government.
"We are not a perfect government, correct. We are not a perfect party, correct. We are not, as what is called in Islam, 'maksum' (without sin).
"We are not a perfect person. Therefore, whatever mistakes we have made, we are willing to correct, like what we are doing today," he said in his speech at the launching and voting session of RUMAWIP Platinum Splendor Residence at Setapak here.
The RUMAWIP is an initiative by the government to provide affordable housing to the low and middle income group in federal territories.
Tengku Adnan lamented that many Malaysians had the tendency to forget the contributions done by the government in assisting them in their daily lives.
He added despite various initiatives by the government to help the public, many of the efforts were not being appreciated.
"We have conducted various programmes. Therefore, I implore to all of you please, please help us. We have done many things to help you," he said.
"Sometimes, you forget the assistance provided by the government," he said in front of hundreds of people attending the event.
Tengku Adnan said the present government, which has been in power since independence, was the reason why Malaysians could live peacefully and safely.
He added Islam had taught him to use his power to help those who are in need, and never abuse his position to oppress the helpless.
"This is the teaching that I always place close to my heart to become a man who always tries to help the public in the federal territories," he said.
