Two GOF personnel drowned in boat capsize in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: Two General Operations Force (GOF) personnel from the Sandakan GOF 15th Batallion were drowned after their boat capsized in the waters off Tundun Buhangin Kinabatangan yesterday.
The body of one of the GOF personnel, Corporal Walter Dennis was found yesterday while Corporal Muhd Hanip@Musley is still missing and feared drowned.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station head Razali Awang Ahmad said the department received a distress call on the incident at 5.01pm that the boat with three people on board had capsized at sea.
He said a villager identified as Lawiq Elan survived the incident while the capsized boat had been recovered. The search and rescue operation involving the firemen, Marine Police and GOF to search for the missing GOF personnel continues today, he said. — Bernama
