IPOH: The Government intends to implement an improved counter delivery system for the public by placing the National Registration, Immigration and Road Transport Departments under one roof.
Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Zainal Rahim Seman said this is the government's far sighted vision to provide an efficient and fast service.
"The public only need to obtain one number to submit their applications to all the departments," he told reporters after the 1Malaysia Customer Service of Civil Servants (1SERVE) walkabout at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here today.
Zainal Rahim said for now the 1SERVE concept will concentrate on three departments which operates under one umbrella for the convenience of the public.
"UTC Ipoh has already practised the system and we will be visiting Perlis and Negri Sembilan to see the implementation.
"Later the system will involve other departments and agencies," he added.
So far PSD and Kuala Lumpur City Hall have implemented the system. For the states, UTC Ipoh is the first to introduce the concept.
"We hope within two years this concept will be implemented in all the states," he added.
1SERVE is a transformation of the delivery system to improve services to the public under the National Blue Ocean Strategy.
Meanwhile, Ipoh Mayor Datuk Zamri Man who was present, said the 1SERVE concept was implemented at the Ipoh City Council for all its 11 services involving six departments in March 30, 2017.
"Up to June a total of 12,798 people used the services with 7,571 visitors recorded in June alone when the council offered a 75% discount on compounds for traffic offences," he said.
