WITH the rapid development and progression of science and technology in this era, it has become the basis of modern civilisation. The progression of science and technology raises more questions and opens up research opportunities to be carried out to drive innovation as it is vital for productivity and economic progress as well as conservation efforts.
As one of Malaysia's premier institutions of higher learning with a sterling track record of more than 48 years of academic excellence, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) remains true to its vision to focus on the development of its students by allowing them to achieve their highest potential and equipping graduates with the necessary skills to succeed in life and work, contributing to the technological, economic and social advancement of the nation.
Drawing from its academic strength and research capability, TAR UC offers Master of Science and Master of Science (Life Science) programmes to give students the opportunity to carry out real-life high impact scientific research projects with relevant industry partners under the guidance of professional and highly qualified teaching staff with years of working and research experience.
Having completed her diploma and Bachelor of Science in Bioscience with Chemistry, Lim Shi Yun is currently pursuing her Master of Science (Life Science) with an area of interest in molecular biology and cell culture.
"As I had completed my tertiary education at TAR UC, I decided to pursue my postgraduate here as I am familiar with the lecturers and the environment," she said.
"Moreover, the Master of Science programme offered by the university college is very affordable and I was able to further reduce my financial burden through the scholarship offered by TAR UC and by helping my supervisor as a research assistant."
The Master of Science (Life Science) programme lies at the intersection of understanding the environment in which we live and guiding conservation efforts, as well as allowing the development novel therapeutics and innovative medical devices, thereby directly improving human health and conservation efforts to save the environment.
Meanwhile, the Master of Science programme focuses on gaining greater understanding of the natural world and how it works with observable physical evidence as the basis of that understanding which would then be used to develop practical applications for the advancement of new technologies and inventions.
To further explore TAR UC's postgraduate programmes offered by the Faculty of Applied Sciences, visit its Info Day happening on Sept 10 to 11, from 9am to 5pm at Bangunan Tan Siew Sin, Kuala Lumpur Main Campus.
