PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and its rail operator, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, will come up with a viable solution to solve the problem of vandalism at its stations.
While both parties are discussing for the best way to solve the issue, MRT Corp Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations director Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah (pix) said he hoped that Malaysians can be more civic conscious and look after public property or the company would have to waste unnecessary funds and time for repair works.
"Everyone should be proud of this new facility and should play their part in looking after the facilities. Use them carefully and think of the next person who has to use them," Najmuddin said.
Najmuddin was commenting on recent incidents where facilities in the recently launched phase two of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line were vandalised.
On Saturday, Najmuddin voiced his disappointment on the acts of vandalism on Facebook.
"So many scratches on benches and walls. Damages in toilets – a toilet in an OKU (bathroom) was broken two days ago," he said in the post.
The affected stations are Merdeka, Bukit Bintang and Maluri.
Najmuddin said investigations are under way to identify the suspects and ascertain the costs of the damages.
