DAP re-election: Voting delegate against appointment of PKF

26 Jul 2017 / 18:53 H.

BUTTERWORTH: An eligible voter for the re-election of officer bearers of DAP's Central Executive Committee is not in favour of the party appointing the audit firm of PKF to be an independent observer of the election process.
Former chairman of DAP's Bagan Luar branch, G. Asoghan claimed that the selection of the firm was not in order as it was picked by the DAP leadership which in itself was invalid and as such could raise doubts as to the veracity of the re-election.
"We (at the Bagan Luar branch) are of the view that any party that has links with the current leadership cannot act as an independent body.
"We are firm in our stand that another independent body is picked to oversee the re-election so that everything is above board," he told a press conference here today.
The Registrar of Societies has ordered the opposition party to hold a re-election for its CEC after finding the first election and a re-election held on the orders of the ROS thereafter to be not in order. — Bernama
