KOTA BARU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) has linked up with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) under the National Blue Ocean Strategy to combat smuggling activities especially along the Malaysia-Thailand border.
Head of the Intellectual Property Section in KPDNKK, Rosli Ahmad said with the collaboration, the ATM would not only provide information on intelligence activities along the border but would also help KPDNKK officers monitor the price of goods, carry out surveillance and curb unethical trading activities.
“This collaboration will be an effective way of tackling issues of misappropriation of subsidised controlled items and safeguarding the rights of consumers,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on the Enforcement of KPDNKK Laws at the  Desa Pahlawan Camp in Kok Lanas here.
Also present were Eighth Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Nazari Abd Hadi and Kelantan KPDNKK director Datuk Ab Ghani Harun.
Meanwhile, Nazari said security along the national borders was the joint responsibility of all security forces, especially those stationed in these areas.
He said each agency had limited powers but the NBOS enabled these bodies to work together to be more effective. — Bernama
