Moderate earthquake hits southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia, at 7.23am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement said the quake's epicentre was 225km southwest of Bengkulu, Indonesia, and 828km southwest of Pontian, Johor.
The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added. — Bernama
