Tun M claims to know contents of 1MDB reports

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today claimed that he knew the contents of the reports on 1Malaysia Development Bhd by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Auditor-General.
The former premier said he would not have dared to challenge Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali to swear on the Quran had he not been familiar with the contents of the said reports.
"I know the contents of BNM's report because the former AG Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had showed it to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when the latter was a former Deputy Prime Minister.
"When Muhyiddin became Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president, he often mentions the reports shown to him by Abdul Gani before his service was terminated.
"And the PPBM leadership, which includes me, has also discussed the reports, which is why I know. I won't challenge Apandi to swear if I didn't know the contents of the reports," he said in a blog post today.
Mahathir added that he knew Apandi was lying about the 1MDB report, which was why it was classified under the Official Secrets Act.
Apandi has, to date, cleared Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak of any wrongdoing in relation to 1MDB.
Mahathir, however, has promised to take Apandi to task for hiding evidence in the case involving the state investment arm should Pakatan Harapan win the next general election.
