SHAH ALAM: The trial of two women accused of killing Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, will commence on Oct 2.
Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 29, and Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, will enter their plea on the first day of trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad said the prosecution would call 30 to 40 witnesses, including 10 expert witnesses.
He also applied for both women to be jointly tried.

Justice Datuk Azmi Ariffin granted the prosecution's request for a joint hearing and fixed trial for 23 days from Oct 2 to Nov 30.
Earlier, both Siti and Doan entered the court wearing baju kurungs and appeared to be relaxed as they were seen smiling and chatting with officers from their respective embassies.
But towards the end of the case management session, Siti started to tear up.
When met outside the court room, Indonesian acting Ambassador Andreano Erwin said that she was only human, and she expected this to be a long drawn out process.
"She is human, and anyone would feel this way. She has already been in jail since February and expected this to be a long process. And when it was mentioned that there would be so many witnesses and evidence, she teared up," Erwin told the media.
Siti's lawyer Gooi Soon Seng told reporters that 26 CDs were received where 24 were CCTV footages of the incident and two more contained documents.
"One of the CCTV recordings showed Siti playing a prank. We have written to the police for five more recordings," he said.
Siti and Doan along with four others still at large, were charged with the murder of Kim Chol, 45, at the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) departure hall at 9am on Feb 13 this year.
It was reported that Jong-nam was at klia2 on Feb 13 to board a flight to Macau when two women approached and suddenly wiped his face with toxic liquid which was later identified as the VX nerve agent.
Jong-nam, who travelled with a passport bearing the name of Kim Chol, died while on the way to the Putrajaya Hospital. He came to Malaysia on Feb 6.
The murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
