ROS disapproves Pakatan Harapan logo (Updated)

PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) were unable to register the opposition coalition after the Registrar of Societies (RoS) rejected its choice of logo.
Its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the RoS wanted the proposed logo to carry the full name of the coalition, instead of the word "Harapan" currently being used.
"The RoS was of the view that the logo was inappropriate as it does not bear the full name of the coalition.
"They wanted us to mention both of the "Pakatan Harapan" words. We are taking this into consideration and we will come out with a new logo and symbol," he told reporters after submitting the hardcopy of the coalition's registration at the RoS' headquarters here today.
Also present were several other top brass in the coalition including its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, deputy presidents Tan Sri Muhyiddim Yassin and Mohamad Sabu, as well as its chief secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
Mahathir said the coalition would have to redesign its logo to comply with RoS' instruction, adding that the new logo would be prepared in another two days.
He added the RoS had also provided guidance to the coalition on how the logo should be done.
"In these two days, we will look into several suggestions that have been made by professionals in logo design," Mahathir said.
Mahathir hoped the RoS would approve the coalition's registration as soon as the new logo was submitted, adding that the registrar had not raised any issue on PH's submitted constitution.
"We have told the RoS that early approval is important to us, as we need to make preparations in the event of a general election.
"If the logo is not approved, it would be hard for us to come out with banners, shirts, flags and other materials," he added.
