Rapid KL denies claims of faulty token vending machines

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL today assured that all of its token vending machines (TVMs) were in good working order and dismissed claims that several of its TVMs at Sungai Buloh MRT station were faulty.
Rapid KL in a statement issued by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) said the long queue of commuters lining up at the TVMs was due to a surge of commuters and due to the overwhelming response for the MRT service.
The statement explained that tokens at the machines need to be replenished and that would need some time.
"All the TVMs are in good working order. It is just a case of the need to replenish the tokens that had been sold out to earlier customers. We have a very high turnout at Sungai Buloh station, and we believe that the additional commuters are coming from areas connected by KTM Komuter. They have come all the way to experience the MRT ride this Sunday.
"We are indeed humbled and honoured by their overwhelming support. On behalf of Rapid Rail, which is the operator of the MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line, we would like to record our highest appreciation and thanks for the support," the statement added.
Thus, Rapid KL advised commuters to use the cashless mode of travelling using the MyRapid Touch n Go (TnG) cards, which can also be used at all Rapid KL travel networks.
"It is not just more convenient, it will also allow commuters to save as well. More importantly, you do not need to queue at the TVMs and save more time. So, use the cashless system," the statement added. — Bernama
