Celebration of independence ideal platform to show appreciation: Musa Aman

KOTA KINABALU: The Independence Month Celebration and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign is the most ideal platform for people to show their appreciation to the country which has given them many opportunities to enjoy the true meaning of independence, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, today.
He said the programme was important to maintain the spirit of loyalty and patriotism among Malaysians.
"Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), we in Sabah have enjoyed much development, progress and prosperity due to independence.
"This independence allowed the state government to implement various development projects for the benefit and well-being of the people in Sabah.
"These include the upliftment of the socioeconomic status, educational opportunities and employment for the people," he said when launching the state-level celebration here.
To ensure that all development agenda for the people could be implemented efficiently and thoroughly, Musa said the state government would continue to strengthen its relationship with the Federal government.
He explained that the good relationship allowed the people and the state to benefit from many developments, besides being given the space and opportunity to contribute more significantly at the national level, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"I would like to emphasise that whatever development policy and programme planned requires strong support and cooperation from all parties.
"I believe that with understanding, the spirit of equality and solidarity at all levels is very important in driving the development and progress of the state in the next phase," he said.
Earlier, the state-level Independence Month Celebration Standing Committee chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is also Sabah Housing and Local Government Minister said following the formation of Malaysia, Sabah had undergone an era of significant change and was now rapidly developing in various aspects, including agriculture and tourism. — Bernama
