Lively KL2017 torch run in Kuala Selangor

    KUALA SELANGOR: The torch run held in conjunction with the 29th SEA Games and 9th Asean Para Games started the second day of its journey in Selangor, here, today with hundreds of participants of all ages.
    The run which started from the Kuala Selangor Tesco hypermarket grounds was flagged off about 8am by Kuala Selangor district officer Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor.
    The 8.5km run took the runners on a route dotted by some places of interest or tourist sites like the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque, Bukit Malawati and Kuala Selangor Royal Mausoleum.
    Eighty torch runners and 500 support runners including students from schools, public and private higher education institutions as well as local residents took part in the run which ended at Apps Hotel, Pasir Penambang, here.
    Also participating in the run were local leaders including Sungai Burong assemblymen Datuk Shamsudin Lias (Sungai Burong), Jakiran Jacomah (Malawati) and Datuk Sulaiman Abdul Razak (Permatang).
    The group of runners led by Shamsuddin arrived at the hotel grounds two hours later and the KL2017 torch handed over to Sabak Bernam representative, Sg Air Tawar federal development coordinator Rizam Ismail. — Bernama
