SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will take the appropriate action and address several criticisms made by the Auditor-General against the state government.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the state government was currently looking into the findings presented in the recently released Auditor-General's Report, adding that a statement on the matter would be made soon.
He added the report, in general, was positive towards the administration.
"However as usual, there were criticisms made by the Auditor-General. The state government will be taking appropriate measures so that there will not be a repetition in the future.
"In general, the financial management in Selangor is doing well. And this is proven when the administration guarantees transparency and openness," he told reporters when met after the officiating ceremony of the Selangor State Development Corporation's new headquarters at Seksyen 14 here.
Among criticisms made in the 2016 Auditor-General's Report on Selangor was the weaknesses of Selangor Forestry Department in applying for approval from the state government to gazette nine recreational forests.
Mohamed Azmin said the government would continue with the process of gazetting several more forest reserve areas in Selangor.
"We are still in the process. We have a policy of making 30% of the total land in Selangor as forest area. Currently, we have already exceeded the 30% mark," he said.
