Creating a love for reading

02 Aug 2017 / 10:18 H.

THE Selangor Literacy Project, which began in January 2017, has been working to inculcate a love of reading in six primary schools across Selangor.
The project is run by the British Council in partnership with the School Management Division, Ministry of Education of Malaysia, together with the support of the Selangor Department of Education, and is funded by HSBC.
To give encouragement and motivation, the project ran two literary competitions – one for students and one for teachers. The winners received their prizes at an award ceremony recently at the Selangor State Education Department.
British Council country director Sarah Deverall and Selangor State Education Department director Mohd Salleh Mohd Kassim presented book vouchers to 12 students and teachers.
