KUALA LUMPUR: The National Audit Department will reopen its investigations on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) if instructed by the government, said
Auditor-General Tan Sri Madinah Mohamad .
"On 1MDB, we will wait for instructions from the government. As and when there is an instruction, then the National Audit Department will act on the instruction," she said during a joint press conference with Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Datuk Hassan Arifin.
Hassan said the PAC had completed its report on 1MDB last year.
"We have presented our report on 1MDB to Parliament, and it is now up to the federal government to take any action, as far as the PAC is concerned, we will not investigate (on 1MDB) anymore," he said.
The 106-page PAC report suggested that the authorities should investigate the company's former Chief Executive Officer Datuk Shahrol Aural Ibrahim Halmi and other related personnel.
The question on re-investigating 1MDB came about after the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) filed civil suits to seize US$540 million in assets allegedly stolen from 1MDB.
