Pandikar takes a jibe at MPs over being taken to court

KUALA LUMPUR: A clearly irritated Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia (pix) reprimanded MPs for raising a point of order during the sitting.
Sarcastically making the remark when the session resumed after lunch, he said he will refrain from making a ruling if any MPs raised a point from the Standing Order.
"Before we proceed with the sitting, I want to state here that I don't want any of you to raise a point of order, because when you raise a point of order I will have to make a ruling.
"(But) now if the speaker makes a ruling, he is dragged to court. So I cannot make a ruling anymore, otherwise I will have to go to court," Pandikar said with a smirk while looking at the Opposition side.
He however did not elaborate or explain his remarks while neither of the MPs reacted to his remarks.
"Article 63(1) of the Federal Constitution has lost its meaning.
"We are getting more complicated in our mind, I cannot catch up with the mentality of all the MPs," Pandikar said.
Earlier today, Hee Loy Sian (PKR-Petaling Jaya Selatan) filed a suit against Pandikar over his unlawful rejection of questions by MPs related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in Parliament.
"I asked if the government had officially denied the claims made by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) regarding the siphoning of funds from 1MDB.
"The second question was directed at the Home Minister, on when was the last time Low Taek Jho was in Malaysia and whether he had dual citizenship.
"The questions were rejected. But we have the right to ask questions and the Speaker has to answer," he had reportedly said after filing the suit at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Hee said he wants the court to summon the Speaker to answer all the questions on 1MDB asked by the MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
