KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Pakatan Harapan (PH) lawmakers marched from Parliament to Bank Negara to submit a petition on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to central bank governor Datuk Muhammad Ibrahim.
The group of about 40 lawmakers handed over a copy of the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) civil court filing seeking the forfeiture and recovery of more than US$1 billion (RM4.28 billion) in assets linked to what it described as an “international conspiracy to launder funds misappropriated” from 1MDB.
Among the PH lawmakers present yesterday were its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, PKR's parliamentary whip Datuk Johari Abdul, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, Amanah communications director Khalid Samad, Darell Leiking from Parti Warisan Sabah, and Datuk Mahfuz Omar from PAS.
"BNM has to re-investigate 1MDB. We have handed over a memorandum addressed to the governor. It includes the DoJ lawsuit," said Wan Azizah after handing over the memorandum to BNM representatives.
