M’sian job seekers flock to S’pore recruitment drive? (Video)

PETALING JAYA: Singaporeans are claiming that most of 1,000 applicants at manufacturing giant 3M's latest walk-in recruitment exercise are Malaysians.

The recruitment exercise on July 29 drew a record number of job seekers, with vacancies including posts for production staff such as operators, production technicians, lab assistants and maintenance workers.

"Our recruitment exercises take place across different platforms several times a year, depending on business needs," said a 3M Singapore spokesman.

A video showing a long queue outside 3M Singapore's premises has been circulating widely online, with about 106,000 views on social media website All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page.

Commenters said most of the job seekers in the long snake-like were from Malaysia. According to them, the roadside was filled up with cars and motorcycles with Malaysia number plates.
